  • 1 cup Raw cashews
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Unsweetened plain almond milk
  • 4 tablespoons Tapioca starch
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

Place 1 cup of raw cashews in a bowl and cover them with hot water. Let the cashews soak for 15-20 minutes. Drain the cashews and set them aside.

Step 2

In a blender, combine the drained cashews, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, 4 tablespoons of tapioca starch, 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.

Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed.

Pour the blended mixture into a medium saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly with a silicone spatula.

As the mixture heats up, it will begin to thicken and form clumps. Keep stirring vigorously to prevent it from sticking to the sides of the pan.
