Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 cups Unsweetened almond milk
  • 4 tablespoons Vegan butter
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons White sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, warm the almond milk until it's lukewarm (around 100°F / 38°C). Add the vegan butter and stir until melted fully. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Whisk together to ensure they are evenly distributed.

Step 3

Pour the warm almond milk mixture and warm water into the dry ingredients. Mix using a spoon until the dough begins to come together.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

Step 5

Form the dough into a ball and place in a lightly oiled bowl, turning the dough to coat with a thin layer of oil. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 6

Once risen, gently punch down the dough to release the gas. Divide it into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

Step 7

Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each to allow for rising. Cover with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 20 minutes.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 9

If using, brush the tops of the buns with a little olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Step 12

Enjoy the buns warm or store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
