Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 7 grams instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 300 milliliters unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
  • 50 grams coconut oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, gently warm the almond milk over low heat until it's lukewarm to the touch. Do not boil.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm almond milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 3

In a large bowl, sift the all-purpose flour and salt together. Create a well in the center.

Step 4

Add the yeast mixture to the flour and start mixing to form a dough.

Step 5

Melt the coconut oil until it's in a liquid state if solid. Gradually add it to the dough while kneading.

Step 6

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Step 8

Once the dough has risen, punch down the air gently and divide it into 12 equal parts.

Step 9

Shape each part into a smooth ball and place them in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each ball.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise again for about 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.

Step 11

Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).

Step 12

Bake the risen rolls in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 13

Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with a little more melted coconut oil for a glossy finish.

Step 14

Let the pav cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
