Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 350 milliliters Warm water
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 400 grams Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 200 grams Vegan mozzarella cheese
  • 10 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 teaspoons Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast is dissolved and begins to foam.

Step 2

Add the flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a rough dough forms.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Lightly coat another bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm location for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

While the dough is rising, prepare the sauce. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil on medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.

Step 6

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, and a pinch of salt. Stir and let simmer for 15-20 minutes to develop the flavors. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 7

Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F).

Step 8

After the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it evenly into a greased, rectangular baking sheet (approximately 13x9 inches) using your fingers to reach the edges.

Step 9

Spread the prepared tomato sauce over the dough evenly. Sprinkle the vegan mozzarella cheese on top.

Step 10

Drizzle a little olive oil over the top for extra richness.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 12

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and, if desired, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for some heat.

Step 13

Slice and serve warm, enjoying your delicious Vegan Grandma Pizza!
