Ingredients

  • 15 oz canned chickpeas
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 whole garlic clove

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas thoroughly under cold water and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.

Finely chop the small onion and garlic cloves and add them to the chickpeas.

Step 3

Chop the fresh parsley and add it to the mixture.

Using a potato masher or fork, mash the chickpeas until they are mostly broken down with some small pieces remaining.

Stir in the cumin powder, coriander powder, baking powder, all-purpose flour, salt, ground black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Combine them well to form a consistent dough.
