Ingredients

  • 1 package Vegan puff pastry sheets
  • 100 grams Granulated sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Sprinkle some of the sugar evenly over your work surface. Unroll the vegan puff pastry sheet onto the sugared surface, ensuring it is flat and even.

Step 3

Sprinkle the remaining sugar evenly on top of the puff pastry sheet.

Step 4

Using a rolling pin, gently roll over the pastry to press in the sugar into the dough. Do not roll too thinly; you want to embed the sugar without changing the thickness dramatically.

Step 5

Fold the long sides of the pastry sheet towards the center line, so they meet in the middle. Then fold one half over the other like closing a book. This will give you 6 layers and the classic palmier shape.

Step 6

Slice the folded pastry log into approximately half-inch (about 1 cm) slices. You should end up with about 12 pieces.

Step 7

Place each sliced piece onto the prepared baking sheet, cut side up, ensuring there is adequate space between each piece for dough expansion during baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and caramelized.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
