Ingredients

  • 250 grams rolled oats
  • 125 grams vegan butter
  • 125 grams brown sugar
  • 100 grams golden syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (355°F) and line an 8-inch square baking tin with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan over low heat, melt the vegan butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup together. Stir occasionally until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Step 3

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

Step 4

Add the rolled oats to the saucepan and mix until all the oats are evenly coated with the syrup mixture.

Step 5

Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared baking tin. Use the back of a spoon or a spatula to press down the mixture firmly and evenly distribute it in the tin.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

Step 7

Remove the flapjacks from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for about 15 minutes. Then, while still slightly warm, cut them into 12 squares or rectangles.

Step 8

Let the flapjacks cool completely in the tin before removing them, as this will help them firm up and hold their shape.

Step 9

Once cooled, lift the flapjacks out of the tin using the parchment paper and enjoy or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
