Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 7 grams Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 325 milliliters Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 400 grams Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 medium Red onion, sliced
  • 1 medium Bell pepper, sliced
  • 100 grams Mushrooms, sliced
  • 50 grams Olives, sliced
  • 10 grams Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional yeast

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Step 2

Add the yeast mixture and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the flour. Mix together to form a dough.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).

Step 6

In a medium saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.

Step 7

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil to the saucepan. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt to taste.

Step 8

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a pizza base on a lightly floured surface.

Step 9

Place the rolled out dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread an even layer of tomato sauce over each base.

Step 10

Top with sliced red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and olives.

Step 11

Sprinkle nutritional yeast on top for a cheesy flavor.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Step 13

Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
