In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
Warm the almond milk and vegan butter in a saucepan over low heat until the butter just melts. Allow the mixture to cool to lukewarm, then pour it into the dry ingredients.
Mix the ingredients into a smooth dough, kneading for about 10 minutes until elastic. You can do this by hand or using a stand mixer with a dough hook.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing together the raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest in a bowl.
Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle approximately 40x30 cm.
Spread the filling mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log.
Cut the log into 12 equal pieces using a serrated knife.
Place the buns cut side up in a greased baking dish, a few centimeters apart. Cover and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
While the buns are baking, prepare the glaze. Heat the maple syrup in a small saucepan or the microwave until warm.
Once the buns are out of the oven, brush them with the warm maple syrup for a shiny glaze.
Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these sticky, fragrant buns while still warm.
