  • 2 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cups Whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 3 Egg yolks
  • 1 cup Whipped cream (for topping, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Chocolate shavings (for garnish, optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine 1.5 cups of heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to steam but does not boil.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and milk until smooth. Gradually add the milk mixture to the saucepan, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.

Step 3

In another small bowl, lightly whisk the egg yolks. Slowly temper the yolks by adding a small amount of the hot cream mixture while whisking continuously. Once tempered, pour the yolks into the saucepan and continue whisking.

Cook the mixture over low heat for 2-3 minutes until it thickens to a custard-like consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Divide the custard evenly into serving glasses or bowls, filling each halfway. Place the glasses in the fridge to chill for 20-30 minutes.
