Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 pieces Apple (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 1 can Refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count can)
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking dish or oven-safe skillet with a thin layer of butter.

Step 2

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the brown sugar and cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.

Step 3

Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract to the saucepan. Stir well, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and pour the caramel evenly into the prepared baking dish or skillet.

Step 4

Arrange the thin apple slices on top of the caramel in a circular pattern. Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and nutmeg evenly over the apples.

Step 5

Place the biscuit dough on top of the apples and caramel, spacing each biscuit slightly apart.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and fully cooked through. You can check for doneness by carefully lifting the edge of a biscuit with a knife to ensure it’s no longer doughy underneath.

Step 7

Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for 5 minutes to allow the caramel to thicken slightly.

Step 8

Carefully place a large plate or serving platter over the baking dish. Using oven mitts, invert the dish onto the plate to release the biscuits and caramel apples upside down. Tap gently on the bottom of the dish if needed to loosen.

Step 9

Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
