Ingredients

  • 300 grams puff pastry
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 0.5 cup shredded coconut
  • 0.25 cup almonds (sliced)
  • 0.25 cup pistachios (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (unsalted)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then lay the puff pastry on it. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Remove and allow to cool.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm, but do not bring it to a boil. Remove from heat.

Step 4

Break the baked puff pastry into bite-sized pieces and place half of them into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 5

Sprinkle half of the raisins, shredded coconut, almonds, and pistachios evenly over the puff pastry layer.

Step 6

Add another layer of puff pastry pieces on top, followed by the remaining raisins, shredded coconut, almonds, and pistachios.

Step 7

Pour the warm milk mixture evenly over the layers, ensuring the pastry pieces are soaked.

Step 8

Dot the top with pieces of butter to enhance the richness.

Step 9

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and slightly bubbly.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
