Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 large apple (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 0.5 cup golden raisins
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries and set them aside. Peel, core, and dice the apple into small cubes.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the apple cider vinegar, water, orange juice, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugars dissolve.

Step 3

Add the cranberries, diced apple, golden raisins, orange zest, and grated ginger to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Step 4

Sprinkle in the ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground allspice, and salt. Mix well.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cranberries will burst, and the mixture will thicken as it cooks.

Step 6

Once the chutney has reached a thick, jam-like consistency, remove it from heat and allow it to cool slightly.

Step 7

Serve warm or let it cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Step 8

Enjoy the chutney as a condiment for roasted meats, as a spread for sandwiches, or alongside cheese and crackers.
