Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp zest of an orange
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined, but avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Set aside on a plate.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the turkey patties. Cook for 5–6 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through (165°F internal temperature). Remove from the skillet and keep warm.

Step 4

In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, if needed, to deglaze any stuck bits from the patties for extra flavor.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, make the cranberry sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh cranberries, orange juice, granulated sugar, orange zest, and water.

Step 6

Bring the cranberry mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

Step 7

Remove the cranberry sauce from heat and let it cool slightly. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Step 8

Serve the turkey patties warm, topped with a generous spoonful of cranberry sauce. Pair with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables or a fresh green salad.
