Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized (about 1 pound total) Turnips
  • 1 medium-sized Carrots
  • 1 small Yellow onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons, chopped Fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons, for frying Olive oil
  • 4 Burger buns
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices
  • 0 Optional toppings (cheese, sauces, etc.)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and grate the turnips, carrot, and onion using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated vegetables in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.

Step 2

Mince the garlic cloves. In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated vegetables, minced garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, flour, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients come together into a cohesive mixture.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties. If the mixture feels too wet, add a small amount of additional breadcrumbs, 1 tablespoon at a time.

Step 4

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Be gentle when flipping to prevent them from breaking.

Step 5

While the patties cook, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly if desired. Layer each bun with lettuce, a cooked turnip patty, tomato slices, and optional toppings like cheese or sauces.

Step 6

Serve the turnip burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes or condiments. Enjoy!
