Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Fresh tuna steaks
  • 2 large Red bell peppers
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 as needed Cooking spray or additional olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Place the red bell peppers on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Roast for 15-20 minutes, turning them halfway through, until the skin is charred and blistered.

Step 3

Remove the roasted peppers from the oven and transfer them to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap or a plate, allowing them to steam for 10 minutes. This will make peeling the skin easier.

Step 4

While the peppers steam, pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.

Step 5

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil or coat with cooking spray. When the pan is hot, sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium rare, or adjust the cooking time to your preferred doneness. Remove from the pan and set aside to rest.

Step 6

Peel the skin from the red peppers and discard the stems and seeds. Transfer the roasted peppers to a blender or food processor.

Step 7

Add garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt to the blender. Blend until smooth, adjusting seasoning to taste as needed.

Step 8

Serve the seared tuna steaks on a plate or platter, topped generously with the roasted red pepper sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Step 9

Pair with your favorite side dish, such as roasted vegetables, rice, or a light salad, and enjoy!
