Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (6 oz each) Tuna steaks
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 6 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 lb Potatoes
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tbsp, chopped Fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp (plus more to taste) Salt
  • 0.5 tsp (plus more to taste) Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika

Directions

Step 1

Peel and cube the potatoes, then place them in a large pot of water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Step 2

While the potatoes are boiling, finely mince 4 cloves of garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat and sauté the garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3

Season the tuna steaks with 1 teaspoon of salt, 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper, and paprika. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and lime juice, rubbing the seasoning evenly over each piece.

Step 4

Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks and cook for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the timing based on your preferred doneness. Set aside and tent with foil to keep warm.

Step 5

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and return them to the pot. Add the sautéed garlic, 4 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup of milk, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Use a potato masher or hand mixer to mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust salt and milk to reach your desired texture.

Step 6

Plate the garlic mashed potatoes and place a tuna steak on top of each serving. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

Step 7

Serve immediately and enjoy this wholesome and flavorful meal.
