Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef, ground
  • 2 cups Water
  • 6 ounces Tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Flour, all-purpose
  • 3 tablespoons Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1.5 teaspoons White vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, place the ground beef over medium heat. Cook and crumble the beef until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 2

Once the beef is browned, carefully drain off any excess grease. Return the meat to the saucepan.

Step 3

Add 2 cups of water to the saucepan and stir to distribute the meat evenly.

Step 4

Stir in the tomato paste until fully dissolved, creating a smooth and consistent base.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and flour. Gradually add this mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming and to thicken the sauce.

Step 6

Add the chili powder, salt, sugar, ground cumin, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to the saucepan. Stir well to combine all the spices.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and allow the chili sauce to simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the flavors are well blended and the sauce does not stick to the bottom.

Step 8

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a small amount of water to achieve the desired consistency.

Step 9

Serve the chili sauce hot over hot dogs, fries, or burgers. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
