Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 2 pieces Large eggs, room temperature
  • 0.33 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 2.5 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.33 cup Softened unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces Softened cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons Softened unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.125 cup Whole milk

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir lightly and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and melted butter. Add the milk and yeast mixture, mixing until combined.

Step 3

Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use the dough hook attachment of a stand mixer for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).

Step 5

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.

Step 6

Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a 16x12-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, leaving a 1-inch border along the edges.

Step 7

Starting with the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal it, then cut the log into 12 even slices (about 1 inch thick each).

Step 8

Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with a towel and let rise again in a warm spot for 30-45 minutes until puffy.

Step 9

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

Step 10

While the rolls bake, prepare the frosting by beating the softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and whole milk in a mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.

Step 11

Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for 5 minutes before spreading the frosting generously over the top.

Step 12

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Cinnabon cinnamon rolls!
