Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
  • 0.75 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 0.25 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, melted
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Add the chilled butter cubes to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Pour in the milk and gently stir until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick disk. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out biscuits and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake the chocolate biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch. Let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 7

While the biscuits cool, prepare the chocolate whipped cream. In a large bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Fold in 2 ounces of melted dark chocolate and refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 8

Dip the halved strawberries into the remaining melted dark chocolate and place them on a parchment-lined plate. Refrigerate them for 10 minutes to set the chocolate.

Step 9

To assemble, slice each biscuit in half horizontally. Spread a layer of chocolate whipped cream on the bottom half, add a few chocolate-covered strawberries, and place the top half of the biscuit on top.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy this indulgent triple chocolate strawberry shortcake!
