  • 6 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Fine sea salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons Sugar (optional, depending on taste)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and finely slice the garlic cloves.

Step 2

Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the sliced garlic to the oil and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn it.

Step 4

Pour the San Marzano tomatoes into the saucepan. Use a wooden spoon to break them up into smaller pieces.

Step 5

Add the fine sea salt, ground black pepper, and sugar (if using) to the saucepan, and stir well.
