Ingredients

  • 400 grams firm tofu
  • 300 grams broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons neutral cooking oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Press the tofu to remove excess water. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy weight on top for about 15 minutes. Once pressed, cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, cornstarch, brown sugar, sesame oil, white vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water if needed to help steam the broccoli.

Step 5

Return the cooked tofu to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the prepared garlic sauce over the tofu and broccoli. Toss everything gently to coat evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat and garnish the dish with chopped green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
