Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 2 teaspoons Toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch

Directions

Step 1

Place a small skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the sesame seeds and toast them, stirring frequently, until they are golden brown and aromatic. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Step 2

Peel the garlic clove and finely mince it. Peel a small piece of ginger and grate it until you have 1 teaspoon of grated ginger.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, and toasted sesame oil. Stir well to blend the ingredients.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the saucepan.

Step 5

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.

Step 6

Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and add the cornstarch mixture to the sauce. Stir continuously to prevent lumps as the sauce begins to thicken, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Stir in the toasted sesame seeds to the sauce and remove from heat.

Step 8

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before transferring it to an airtight container. Use immediately or refrigerate for up to one week.
