Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 16 ounces Mascarpone cheese

  • 1.5 cups Espresso or strong coffee
  • 2 tablespoons Coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 pieces Ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ounce Dark chocolate (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture is thick and pale, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg and sugar mixture, and gently fold until smooth and well combined.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream to stiff peaks using a hand mixer or stand mixer on high speed.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.

In a shallow dish, combine the espresso (or coffee) with the coffee liqueur, if using. Allow the mixture to cool if it is still warm.
