Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 15 ounces kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 ounces pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 ounces green beans, drained
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large oven-safe skillet or sauté pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Break it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks.

Step 3

Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until the onion is translucent and softened.

Step 4

Drain any excess fat from the skillet, if necessary, and reduce heat to low.

Step 5

Stir in the drained kidney beans, pinto beans, and green beans. Mix everything together well.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, salt, and pepper to create the sauce.

Step 7

Pour the sauce over the beef and beans mixture in the skillet. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

Step 8

If using an oven-safe skillet, smooth the mixture into an even layer. If not, transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 9

Top the hotdish with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired, for a cheesy finish.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the dish is bubbling hot and the cheese (if added) is melted and golden.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let the hotdish cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
