Ingredients

  • 16 oz White American Cheese (shredded or cubed)
  • 1 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 4 oz Diced Green Chiles (mild or hot, canned)
  • 1 medium Jalapeño (finely diced, seeds removed if desired)
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 0.5 tsp Onion Powder
  • 0.5 tsp Cumin (ground)
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro (finely chopped, for garnish)
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 cup Milk (optional, for thinning)

Directions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients: shred or cube the cheese, dice the jalapeño, and chop the cilantro.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, heat the evaporated milk over medium-low heat until warm, but do not let it boil.

Step 3

Gradually add the White American Cheese to the warm milk, stirring constantly to ensure it melts evenly and does not burn.

Step 4

Once the cheese has fully melted and the mixture is smooth, stir in the diced green chiles, diced jalapeño, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and salt. Continue stirring to combine the flavors, cooking for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

If the dip is too thick for your preference, add up to 1/4 cup of regular milk, a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached. Stir well after each addition.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from heat and transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro for a pop of fresh flavor and color.

Step 7

Serve immediately with tortilla chips, warm flour tortillas, or as a topping for your favorite Mexican dishes. Enjoy!
