Ingredients

  • 2 cups Ketchup
  • 1 cup Water
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, water, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk together until smooth.

Step 2

Stir in the brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Mix well to ensure the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 3

Add the yellow mustard, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir until all spices are evenly distributed.

Step 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce cook for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken as it cooks.

Step 6

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. For additional sweetness, add more honey or brown sugar. For more heat, increase the cayenne pepper slightly.

Step 7

Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove it from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 8

Transfer the barbecue sauce to a clean jar or container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Step 9

Use as a basting sauce for grilled meats, a dipping sauce for chicken or fries, or a versatile condiment for sandwiches and wraps.
