Ingredients

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread
  • 4 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (shredded) Aged white cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons (grated) Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves (minced) Garlic
  • 4 slices Prosciutto
  • 8 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Olive oil
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2

On a flat surface, lay out the sourdough bread slices. Brush one side of each slice with the garlic butter mixture.

Step 3

Flip the slices and layer the unbuttered sides with 2 slices of mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of shredded aged white cheddar cheese per sandwich.

Step 4

Place 2 slices of prosciutto on top of the cheese layers, followed by 4 fresh basil leaves on each sandwich. Sprinkle lightly with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Step 5

Close the sandwiches with the other slices of bread, buttered sides facing out.

Step 6

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-low heat. Drizzle 1 teaspoon of olive oil into the pan and spread evenly.

Step 7

Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to gently press down on the sandwiches as they cook.

Step 8

Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden and the cheese is melted and gooey.

Step 9

Remove the sandwiches from the pan and let them rest for 1-2 minutes. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.

Step 10

Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve immediately with your favorite soup or salad.
