To fry the eggs, add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan if necessary. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. If you prefer your yolks firmer, cook for an additional minute.
Toast the thick-sliced bread in a toaster or under the grill until golden and crisp. Spread with the remaining butter while still warm.
