Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium Onion, finely diced
  • 0.5 medium Green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 0.75 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup (for meat mixture)
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup (for glaze)
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onion, diced green bell pepper, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, and 1/4 cup of ketchup. Mix well with clean hands or a mixing spoon until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Press it down gently to form an even loaf shape.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to create the glaze.

Step 5

Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf. Reserve the remaining glaze for later use.

Step 6

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 7

After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze over the top. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Once fully cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Step 9

Serve warm, paired with your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, green beans, or dinner rolls.
