Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven's broiler on high and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet to allow even cooking.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, red chili flakes, and Sriracha sauce. Whisk until the ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 3

Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat them thoroughly with the marinade. Let the wings marinate for 10–15 minutes at room temperature.

Step 4

Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack. Use a basting brush to lightly coat each wing with vegetable oil to help them crisp up.

Step 5

Place the baking sheet on the top rack of the oven, about 6 inches from the broiler. Broil the wings for 10 minutes, then flip them over and broil for an additional 8–10 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and slightly charred. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Step 6

While the wings are cooking, prepare the hot and sour sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer the remaining marinade (if any was left after coating the wings) for 3–5 minutes to ensure it is fully cooked. If no marinade remains, whisk together a quick sauce of 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon fish sauce, 1 tablespoon lime juice, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon Sriracha, and 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes in the saucepan. Cook for 2–3 minutes to thicken slightly.

Step 7

Once the wings are done, transfer them to a serving platter. Drizzle the hot and sour sauce generously over the wings and garnish with sliced green onions, chopped cilantro, and toasted sesame seeds.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy these irresistible Thai-style broiled chicken wings!
