Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground chicken or pork
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, grated
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Fish sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground white pepper
  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce (for dipping sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red chili flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sesame oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, cilantro, soy sauce, fish sauce, and ground white pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 2

In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. This will be used to seal the dumpling wrappers.

Step 3

Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a clean, flat surface. Place 1 teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 4

Brush the edges of the wrapper lightly with the cornstarch slurry. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, pressing the edges tightly to seal. For a decorative touch, pleat the edges or crimp them with a fork.

Step 5

Repeat the process until all the filling and wrappers are used, placing the dumplings on a parchment-lined tray to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of oil. Once the oil is hot, arrange the dumplings in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch each other.

Step 7

Cook the dumplings for 2-3 minutes or until the bottoms are golden brown. Then add about 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and immediately cover with a lid to steam. Allow the dumplings to steam for 5-6 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.

Step 8

While the dumplings are cooking, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, red chili flakes, and sesame oil in a small bowl.

Step 9

Remove the cooked dumplings from the skillet and serve them hot with the prepared dipping sauce on the side.
