  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1.5 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Cold water
  • 4 cups Cooked white rice
  • 2 stalks Green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Step 3

Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Step 4

Sear the chicken in the skillet for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken and set aside.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and pour the prepared sauce into the skillet. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to slightly thicken and develop flavor.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry. Add this mixture to the sauce in the skillet and stir well. Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 7

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Let the mixture simmer for another 2 minutes to ensure the chicken is fully coated and heated through.

Step 8

Serve the teriyaki orange chicken over freshly cooked white rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired.
