Ingredients

  • 200 g spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 tsp red chili flakes
  • 200 g raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 200 g fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 0.5 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and red chili flakes to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Step 4

Add the shrimp and mussels to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp begin to turn pink and the mussels start to open.

Step 5

Stir in the cherry tomatoes and cook for another 2 minutes, allowing them to soften slightly.

Step 6

Deglaze the skillet with the white wine, scraping up any browned bits at the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 7

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet, tossing gently to combine. If the pasta seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it.

Step 8

Season the dish with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Toss again to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chopped parsley over the pasta.

Step 10

Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley or a wedge of lemon if desired.
