Ingredients

  • 1 pound Large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons Tequila
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 8 skewers Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • 4 pieces Lime wedges for serving
  • 1 cup Optional: diced avocado or salsa as a topping

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the tequila, lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, honey, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Add the shrimp to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, but no more than 30 minutes to prevent over-marinating.

Step 3

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or set your oven's broiler to high.

Step 4

Thread the marinated shrimp onto the soaked wooden skewers, distributing them evenly.

Step 5

Lightly oil the grill grates if grilling, or line a baking sheet with foil if broiling.

Step 6

Cook the shrimp skewers on the grill or under the broiler for 2-3 minutes per side, until the shrimp are pink, opaque, and slightly charred.

Step 7

Remove the skewers from the heat and sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

Step 8

Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing, and optionally top with diced avocado or salsa.
