Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (6 ounces each) Beef tenderloin steaks
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces (sliced) Cremini mushrooms
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup Dry Marsala wine
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 0.25 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped) Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Season both sides of the beef tenderloin steaks with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove steaks from the skillet and tent with foil to keep warm.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the sliced cremini mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and softened.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Pour in the Marsala wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Let the wine simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 6

Add the beef broth and simmer for another 5-7 minutes until the liquid has reduced by about half.

Step 7

Stir in the heavy cream and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 8

Return the steaks to the skillet and spoon the mushroom Marsala sauce over them. Cook for 1-2 minutes to warm the steaks and combine flavors.

Step 9

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately. Pair with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
