Ingredients

  • 1 pound asparagus
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Wash the asparagus thoroughly and trim the woody ends by snapping them where they naturally break, or by cutting off the bottom 1-2 inches.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to warm for 1 minute.

Step 3

Add the asparagus to the skillet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper, and sauté for 5-6 minutes, tossing occasionally, until the asparagus is bright green and slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 4

While the asparagus is cooking, in a small bowl whisk together the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic.

Step 5

Once the asparagus reaches the desired tenderness, reduce the heat to low and pour the balsamic mixture over the asparagus. Toss to coat evenly and cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken slightly.

Step 6

Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the asparagus and gently toss to distribute them evenly.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat. Transfer the asparagus to a serving platter, ensuring it's evenly coated with the glaze. Serve immediately and enjoy!
