Ingredients

  • 400 grams Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli)
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons Water
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Sugar

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the Gai Lan thoroughly under cold running water and trim 1-2 inches from the bottom stems. Slice any thick stems in half lengthwise to ensure even cooking.

Step 2

Peel and mince the garlic cloves finely.

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, water, salt, and sugar. Mix well to create the sauce and set aside.

Step 4

Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil and swirl to coat the surface.

Step 5

Add the minced garlic to the wok and stir-fry for 10-15 seconds until fragrant but not browned.

Step 6

Add the Gai Lan to the wok, tossing to coat it in the garlic oil. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the leaves begin to wilt.

Step 7

Pour the prepared sauce over the Gai Lan and toss to combine. Cover the wok with a lid and let the Gai Lan steam for another 2-3 minutes until the stems are tender but still crisp.

Step 8

Uncover the wok, give the Gai Lan a final toss, and transfer to a serving plate.

Step 9

Serve immediately as a side dish alongside rice or your favorite main dish.
