Ingredients

  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 100 grams Unsalted butter
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Cold water
  • 4 large Golden Delicious apples
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter, melted
  • 100 grams Apricot preserves
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

To prepare the pastry, combine the flour, 50g sugar, and salt in a large bowl.

Step 3

Chop 100g butter into small cubes and add to the flour mixture.

Step 4

Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse sand.

Step 5

Add cold water gradually, mixing with a fork just until the dough begins to come together.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly until it holds together.

Step 7

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.

Step 8

While the dough chills, peel and core the apples, slice them thinly and evenly.

Step 9

Toss the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Step 10

Roll out the chilled pastry dough on a lightly floured surface into a circle about 30cm (12 inches) in diameter.

Step 11

Transfer the dough to a tart pan, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides, trimming the excess.

Step 12

Arrange the apple slices in a concentric circle pattern over the crust.

Step 13

Brush the apples with the melted butter and sprinkle the top with 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Step 14

Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.

Step 15

While the tart bakes, heat the apricot preserves with 1 tablespoon of water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until melted and smooth.

Step 16

Once the tart is out of the oven, brush the warm apricot glaze over the apples for a glossy finish.

Step 17

Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving. It can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
