Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Taco seasoning
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and taco seasoning until well combined.

Step 3

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and, if using, the chopped fresh cilantro. Mix until the cheese is evenly distributed.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, sour cream, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

Step 5

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can toughen the bread.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 8

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. This bread pairs wonderfully with soups, chili, or a dollop of sour cream on the side!
