Ingredients

  • 2 steaks T-bone steak
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 0.25 cup Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cayenne pepper

Directions

Step 1

Bring the T-bone steaks to room temperature by leaving them on the counter for at least 30 minutes before cooking.

Step 2

Season both sides of the steaks generously with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Rub the steaks with olive oil and set aside.

Step 3

To make the Jack Daniel's grilling sauce, combine the Jack Daniel's whiskey, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, and ground cayenne pepper in a small saucepan.

Step 4

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar and prevent burning. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool to room temperature.

Step 5

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F). If using charcoal, wait until the coals are glowing and ashed over. If using a gas grill, heat it with the lid closed for about 10 minutes.

Step 6

Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Place the seasoned T-bone steaks on the hot grill.

Step 7

Cook the steaks for 4–5 minutes on the first side without moving them to achieve a good sear. Flip the steaks and cook for another 4–5 minutes for medium-rare doneness, or until the desired level of doneness is reached.

Step 8

During the last 2–3 minutes of grilling, generously brush the Jack Daniel's grilling sauce onto both sides of the steaks. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly without burning.

Step 9

Once cooked, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5–10 minutes to retain their juices.

Step 10

Serve the T-bone steaks hot, drizzled with additional Jack Daniel's grilling sauce on top. Pair with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, or a crisp garden salad.
