Ingredients

  • 56 oz canned baked beans
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces and set aside.

Step 3

Meanwhile, dice the yellow onion into small pieces. Using the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the diced onion and sauté over medium heat until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned baked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

Step 5

Add the sautéed onions and half of the crumbled bacon to the bean mixture. Stir until evenly combined.

Step 6

Pour the bean mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 7

Sprinkle the remaining crumbled bacon over the top of the beans.

Step 8

Bake the beans in the preheated oven, uncovered, for 1 hour, or until the sauce is bubbly and thickened to your liking.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow the baked beans to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
