  • 4 large Egg whites
  • 200 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 90°C (195°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a clean, dry mixing bowl, add the egg whites and a pinch of salt. Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.

Step 3

Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the mixture. Increase the mixer speed to high and whip the egg whites until they form stiff, glossy peaks. This process may take about 5-7 minutes.

Add the vanilla extract and gently fold it into the meringue mixture with a spatula.

Transfer the meringue into a piping bag fitted with a star or round tip. Pipe small mounds or shell shapes onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 cm apart.

Place the baking sheets into the preheated oven and bake for 90 minutes. Do not open the oven door during baking, as this can cause the meringues to collapse.

After 90 minutes, turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside to cool completely, about an hour. This drying process ensures they remain crisp.

Once cooled, carefully remove the meringue shells from the parchment paper and store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
