Ingredients

  • 1 pound sea scallops
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Rinse the sea scallops under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Remove the tough side muscle if present.

Step 3

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Step 4

Add the scallops to the skillet and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side until they are lightly golden. Do not cook them through.

Step 5

Remove the scallops from the skillet and set them aside in a single layer in a greased baking dish.

Step 6

In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the heavy cream, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 7

Pour the cream sauce evenly over the scallops in the baking dish.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the scallops, ensuring an even layer.

Step 9

In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the chopped parsley. Sprinkle this mixture on top of the cheese layer.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Step 11

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
