Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Pork steaks
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Liquid smoke (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and liquid smoke if using. This will be your sweet and tangy BBQ sauce.

Step 2

Reserve about 1/4 cup of the BBQ sauce for basting during cooking.

Step 3

Place the pork steaks in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour the remaining BBQ sauce over the pork steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight, to marinate.

Step 4

When ready to cook, preheat your grill to medium heat or preheat your grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Remove the pork steaks from the marinade, allowing any excess sauce to drip off. Discard the used marinade.

Step 6

Place the pork steaks on the grill and cook for about 8-10 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the steaks, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Step 7

During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the pork steaks with the reserved BBQ sauce on both sides, letting it caramelize slightly.

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the pork steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve warm with your favorite sides, such as coleslaw, cornbread, or grilled vegetables. Enjoy!
