Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 units green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup and set a wire rack on top if available.

Step 2

In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and black pepper until well combined.

Step 3

Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This helps the glaze stick better during cooking.

Step 4

Add the chicken wings to the bowl of marinade, tossing to ensure they're evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for deeper flavor).

Step 5

Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet or wire rack. Reserve the remaining marinade.

Step 6

Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. While they bake, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5–7 minutes or until it thickens slightly. Set aside to use as a glaze later.

Step 7

Remove the wings from the oven after 20 minutes. Brush them generously with the thickened glaze on both sides.

Step 8

Return the wings to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, brushing them again with glaze halfway through, until they're golden brown, sticky, and fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C).

Step 9

Once cooked, remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired, and serve warm. Enjoy!
