Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bone-in pork chops
  • 2 medium Apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 3 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Season both sides of the pork chops with salt, black pepper, and ground cinnamon.

Step 2

Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Thinly slice the onion.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add pork chops and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the pork chops and set them aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and apples, cooking for 5 minutes until softened.

Step 5

Stir in apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 6

Return the pork chops to the skillet, nestling them into the apple mixture. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, ensuring the pork chops are fully cooked (internal temperature of 145°F or 63°C).

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Gradually add the slurry to the skillet, stirring constantly, to thicken the sauce.

Step 8

Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove from heat and serve the pork chops topped with the apple and onion mixture. Pair with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
