Ingredients

  • 4 pieces tuna steaks
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons scallions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, sriracha, grated ginger, minced garlic, and lime juice. Stir well to form a marinade.

Step 2

Rinse the tuna steaks under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Sprinkle both sides of each steak with salt and black pepper.

Step 3

Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour half of the marinade over them. Turn the steaks to coat them evenly, reserving the other half of the marinade for later. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Step 4

Heat the canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, gently place the marinated tuna steaks into the skillet.

Step 5

Sear the tuna steaks for about 2-3 minutes on each side, aiming for a nice golden-brown crust on the outside while keeping the center rare to medium-rare, ensuring it's tender and juicy.

Step 6

Transfer the cooked tuna to a serving platter, and pour the reserved marinade over the steaks for added flavor.

Step 7

Garnish the tuna steaks with chopped scallions and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds before serving.

Step 8

Serve immediately alongside steamed rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
