Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 4 pieces Chicken breasts or thighs

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and ground black pepper. Whisk the ingredients together until well-incorporated and the sugar has dissolved.

Step 2

Place the chicken breasts or thighs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure all pieces are fully coated.

Step 3

Seal the bag (if using) or cover the dish with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully develop.

Step 4

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the remaining marinade to avoid cross-contamination.

Step 6

Place the marinated chicken pieces on the preheated grill. Cook for 6-8 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 7

Remove the grilled chicken from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 8

Serve the grilled chicken hot, and enjoy its sweet and sour flavors!
