Ingredients

  • 500 grams Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

Wash and trim the Brussels sprouts, cutting off the tough stem ends. Slice any larger sprouts in half to ensure even cooking.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Spread them out in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 4

Roast the Brussels sprouts in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Step 5

While the Brussels sprouts are roasting, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, cornstarch, and water until smooth.

Step 6

Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and pour in the sauce mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove it from the heat.

Step 7

Once the Brussels sprouts are roasted, transfer them to a serving bowl. Pour the prepared sweet and sour sauce over the roasted sprouts and gently toss to coat evenly.

Step 8

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired for an extra layer of flavor and texture.

Step 9

Serve warm as a side dish or a light appetizer. Enjoy!
